How Much Does 3D Printing Cost in the UAE? (2026 Pricing Guide)
Transparent breakdown of 3D printing costs in the UAE — material price per gram, infill, supports, finishing, and delivery across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
"How much will it cost?" is the first question we get from anyone considering a custom 3D print. The honest answer is: it depends on weight, material, and complexity — but the maths is simple enough that you can estimate it yourself in under a minute.
This guide breaks down exactly how 3D printing is priced in the UAE in 2026.
The core formula
For FDM printing (the standard plastic process WhyPrint uses), price is driven almost entirely by how much plastic ends up in your part. The base formula is:
> part weight (grams) × material price per gram = base cost
Everything else — printer time, electricity, labour — is bundled into the per-gram rate at most UAE printing services, including ours.
Material rates at WhyPrint
| Material | Price per gram | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| PLA | from AED 0.40/g | Display, props, prototypes |
| PETG | from AED 0.50/g | Functional parts, outdoors |
| TPU (flexible) | from AED 0.85/g | Grips, gaskets, phone cases |
These are starting rates — large or simple jobs can be cheaper, very small or fiddly jobs slightly more.
A worked example
Say you upload a phone stand model. After slicing, the part comes out to:
- Volume: 40 cm³
- Material: PLA (density 1.24 g/cm³)
- Infill: 20% (default)
The actual print weight is roughly:
> 40 cm³ × 1.24 g/cm³ × (shell + 20% infill factor ≈ 0.4) ≈ 20g
At AED 0.40/g, that's AED 8 of material. Add a small handling minimum and delivery, and you're looking at AED 25–40 for a typical phone stand in PLA.
A 250g cosplay helmet in PETG, by contrast, would be roughly 250 × 0.50 = AED 125 of material, plus a longer print time premium — landing around AED 140–180.
What changes the price
Infill density. Default is 20%. Drop to 10% for hollow display parts (~30% cheaper), or push to 50%+ for load-bearing parts (~40% more expensive).
Supports. Models with steep overhangs need scaffolding that gets thrown away. This adds 5–25% to material weight. You can reduce supports by reorienting the part — or just let us optimise it.
Quantity. We offer per-unit discounts for batches of 5+. If you need 10 of the same widget, ask for a bulk quote.
Material upgrades. Specialty filaments (carbon-fibre PLA, glow-in-the-dark, wood-fill) cost more per gram.
Finishing. Sanding, priming, painting, or smoothing is hand work and quoted separately.
Delivery across the UAE
Delivery is a flat AED 20 anywhere in the UAE, regardless of emirate. Pickup from our Abu Dhabi workshop is free.
How to get an exact number
The fastest way is to upload your file and let our system calculate it directly:
1. Go to the quote page 2. Drop in your STL, OBJ, or 3MF file 3. Pick material and colour 4. Get a per-gram estimate in seconds — no signup required
If your file is complex or you need a custom finish, send it through with notes and we'll quote manually within a few hours.
Tips to lower your print cost
- Hollow large parts in CAD (or drop infill to 10%)
- Choose PLA over PETG when possible — slightly cheaper per gram
- Combine small parts into one order to share the handling minimum
- Pickup instead of delivery if you're near Abu Dhabi
- Order in batches if you'll need multiple copies
Most small first orders come in under AED 80. Try the instant quote tool to see for yourself.
